Small Grant Program

Small Grant Program

Now open until September 1st.
Fill out the online application here.

Small grants up to $800 are distributed by KOB on a competitive basis to projects that clean and beautify Oakland parks, creeks, streets and other right-of-way.

  • Evidence that the project is sustainable after grant funding terminates is a primary criterion.
  • Partnerships that leverage additional resources and the public visibility of a project are also considered when awarding grants.
  • All projects must be authorized by the land owner.
    • Projects on City of Oakland property must be approved by the City and have an approved Oakland Adopt a Spot agreement prior to September 1, 2017. (Project approval time varies by location and complexity.  Allow for a minimum of two weeks.)
    • Projects on private property must have demonstrable community benefit.
  • Twenty percent of funds will be withheld until the recipient has submitted a final report, including documentation of expenditures, and KOB has conducted a site visit.

The application process opens August 1st and applications are due September 1, 2017.

How can you support KOB small grants in Oakland?
There are two ways you can donate to KOB.  1.) Online through our Paypal link here, 2.) Mail your check to the following address.  Make checks out to “Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation” specifying KOB in the memo line (see note below about our fiscal sponsor).

Keep Oakland Beautiful (KOB) is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, a national nonprofit organization.  Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation (OPRF) serves as the fiscal sponsor for KOB.  OPRF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the tax id # 94-2751052. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.  Because KOB is a local group affiliated with OPRF, when you donate to KOB through OPRF, your donations are tax deductible.
