Grant Opportunity for Graffiti Clean Up

Hey Oakland! Would you like some free paint to clean up graffiti or beautify your neighborhood?
Keep Oakland Beautiful has an opportunity to apply for a grant to receive paint from a national paint supply chain. We’d like to partner with Oakland-based individuals and/or groups on community improvement projects where the paint can be used.
If you are interested, please submit a proposal with a description of your special project, the neighborhood where the project will take place, which neighborhood or community groups are involved, and how many gallons of paint you would need.  Interesting and unique ideas are a plus and the more details about your project the better.  The deadline for submissions is September 20 and proposals can be sent to Cynthia Elliot at

This could present a great opportunity to repaint your house if it was painted prior to 1978, in which case the existing paint is likely to be lead-based.

If you do qualify for a grant and you need to remove lead-based paint from your home, please seek the advice of a qualified lead paint removal contractor to ensure the safety of you, your family, and your neighbors.
