Second Saturday Tree Planting Event

Start your weekend off right by planting trees with us in Oakland!  If you're looking for some physical activity with a civic and environmental component, this is it. Volunteers from the Sierra Club San Francisco Bay Chapter have been helping Oakland continue its public tree-planting program since early 2010. Small Grant Applications Due

Small grants in the amount of $500 to $800 are distributed by KOB on a competitive basis to projects that clean and beautify Oakland parks, creeks, streets and other right-of-way. Evidence that the project is sustainable after grant funding terminates is a primary criterion. Partnerships that leverage additional resources and the public visibility of a project are also considered when awarding grants. Daffodil Day

Every fall, Keep Oakland Beautiful distributes thousands of daffodils and other bulbs to Oakland residents, groups and organizations for planting and beautification of Oakland’s public spaces. This event is made possible by generous support and contributions from Keep Oakland Beautiful’s board members, and individual donors like you. WHO should plant? Youth groups, neighborhood organizations, church groups, school clubs, students, service organizations – anyone, as long as they are volunteers. Great American Clean-up

As part of the Great American Clean-up, Keep Oakland Beautiful will be working with Sierra Club Tree Team on June 24th to plant 25+ trees and other plants in Raimondi Park and the surrounding area. Volunteers will meet on 18th Street between Wood and Willow and the event goes from 9-1 pm.
