Great American Clean-up

June 24, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Event Navigation

As part of the Great American Clean-up, Keep Oakland Beautiful will be working with Sierra Club Tree Team on June 24th to plant 25+ trees and other plants in Raimondi Park and the surrounding area. Volunteers will meet on 18th Street between Wood and Willow and the event goes from 9-1 pm.

Our goal is to increase the tree canopy in the East Oakland flatlands by planting 1,500 trees in three years.

Benefits of Planting Trees:

  • Improve air quality
  • Absorb carbon dioxide
  • Fight climate change
  • Reduce asthma
  • Release oxygen
  • Reduce storm water flooding
  • Cool the environment
  • Reduce emotional stress
  • Provide habitat for wildlife
  • Add beauty to the landscape

Funding comes from the California Climate Investments Program, through a grant by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (“CAL FIRE”).
