Daffodil Day

September 24, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Every fall, Keep Oakland Beautiful distributes thousands of daffodils and other bulbs to Oakland residents, groups and organizations for planting and beautification of Oakland’s public spaces. This event is made possible by generous support and contributions from Keep Oakland Beautiful’s board members, and individual donors like you.

WHO should plant?

Youth groups, neighborhood organizations, church groups, school clubs, students, service organizations – anyone, as long as they are volunteers. You or your group can receive up to 200 free daffodil bulbs for planting in public locations. Once you plant the daffodils, you are considered the area steward and a participant of the City of Oakland’s Public Works Agency Adopt-A-Spot program and agree to keep the daffodil project site looking nice, litter and weed-free.

WHERE do I plant?

The bulbs must be planted in public locations, such as parks, with City of Oakland approval. Choose a sunny place with good drainage where people can enjoy the blooms–hillsides are good. We’ll provide you with planting instructions too!

WHEN do I plant?

The official planting days are from November 1-8, but you can plant your bulbs any time before the end of November.
