A Big Thanks to Those Who Cleaned Up After the Warriors’ Championship Parade.

Congratulations, Golden State Warriors on winning the 2014-15 NBA championship! You demonstrated what can be done when a group of committed people come together to achieve a common goal. Here are some photos from Friday’s championship parade (please click on the photos to enlarge and clarify them):

After the parade, another group of committed people came together to achieve a common goal. Thanks go out to staff from the City of Oakland, other local organizations, our own Keep Oakland Beautiful Flash Mob, and people who just happened to be passing by, as they took to the streets, sidewalks, parks, and lakeside to clean up all the refuse left in the wake of the Warriors’ much deserved parade.

The bags fill slowly when you have to pick up thousands of pieces of blue and yellow confetti.

Thank god for litter pick-up sticks!

The work continues, so if you see someone cleaning up, please stop and say ‘thanks’ or better yet, lend a hand. Every little bit helps. Keeping Oakland Beautiful is everybody’s business.

We encourage you to share your thoughts in the reply section. We welcome the dialogue and learning of others’ perspectives.
